STC Business signs a strategic partnership agreement with the Economic Knowledge City

STC has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Medina Economic Knowledge City through which it executes the project of connecting 40 kilometers in the city with fiber optic technology along building and developing the city telecom infrastructure so as to deliver the most sophisticated communications and information technology services that suit the position of the Economic Knowledge City and its role in coping with the era.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the Economic Knowledge City HRH Dr. Bandar bin Salman bin Mohammed AL Saud chairman of the Economic Knowledge City. Dr. Khalid bin Hussain Biyari the Senior VP for Technology and Operations singed for STC.
On this occasion Dr. Bandar bin Salman said STC is always at the front in many areas and it is assuming its great competitive position both on the local and global levels. The Economic Knowledge City is built based on the directions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Harams king Abdullah bin Abdulaziz on economic fundamentals. STC is one of the pillars of this knowledge technology and the partnership between us will continue in the future and we expect this agreement will be successful. We also expect in the near future more appendices will be added to it in the coming years.
Dr. Khalid bin Hussain Biyari indicated the implementation of the project works will be in phases- the primary and first phases. The primary phase is expected to complete by the end of 2013 and the first phase is expected to finish by 2016. By that time the city should have finished development of 1.2 square meters and 2.3 million square meters of built area. At the end of the first phase the city will have 10000 residential units that include villas and medium and high density houses. At that time the population of the city is expected to reach 32000 having all sorts of solutions and smart innovations e.g. telephone, internet, mobile service and other applications provided by STC.
This agreement is a real translation of STC the Economic Knowledge City mutual objectives that aim at maximum leverage of huge STC facilities and CIT services and harness them to the interest of the Economic Knowledge City in a way that enables making a big qualitative move in the performance and productivity of this city.
