STC Organizes the First “Hackathon” Event for Saudi Application Developers

Sustaining STC’s continuous role in furthering young initiatives and renovations for the mobile handset applications, the first “Sports Hackathon” event was launched last Thursday Jan 10th, 2013. The activities of the event continued for the entire day where amateur and professional developers have been given the chance to learn and develop their skills. The participants have been divided into (9) teams, each of which was allowed (6) hours to develop the sports applications. Group Corporate Communication GM Eng. Nawaaf Al Shalani awarded the first winner in presence of Director of Services at STC Mr. Kurdi Al Temiyat. Certificates have also been passed to all graduates and workshop participants who have been awarded certificates and valuable gifts. The event comes as a continuation to a series of similar events which STC supported over the previous 2 months, including workshops and courses on NFC, UX, IOS, Android and Unity 3D for application developers. The world “Hackathon” events are considered distinct societal activities and a valuable opportunity for all application developers and technology fans to meet, learn and develop applications. Further, Hakathon events are part of a series of initiatives intended for application developers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that are sponsored by STC as part of its strategy that is directed to community service and welfare. The initiative is part of STC’s pioneering role with respect to communicating and orchestrating all community efforts to support research and development projects together with its brilliant record of accomplishments in all tiers of social and corporate responsibility nationwide.
