3 ways to install FTTH cables in the customer’s home:
Installing through internal wiring channels using fish tape
You will have to remove a floor tile in order to get access to the wiring channels. Once this is done, use the fish tape to thread the cable through the channel, after which you have to check the signal connectivity of the cable. Upon completion, return everything as it was and clean up any mess.
This is one of the easiest and quickest methods, but it's very rarely an option.
This method should be followed if the used method is unfeasible and the customer gave his consent.
Install a protective casing that has the same height as the outside wall. The casing should be placed as close as possible to the entry point. Once this is done, proceed to drill a small hole through the wall and then pass the cable through to the house. This is another relatively quick and simple method to install fiber-optic cables at the customer's home.
Installing between house tiles
In case the customer refuses each of the first two methods, you can suggest the third option for installing between house tiles, which is the most common method.
The following illustrations show how to cut the house tiles:
The first thing to do is to ask the customer where they would like to install the ONT unit. Next, you should plot the course of the cable between the tiles from the outer wall to the inner wall, and then proceed to drill a small hole in the wall for the cable to pass through. Once this is done, proceed to use the cutter disk to slice between the tiles and lay down the cable. After finishing, refill the spaces between the tiles and clean up any mess.
Caution: After agreeing on a trail and the installation work is in process, it is not possible to repeat the installation. Each ONT site will be installed depending on the space of each home.
