Completion of the Marine survey Operations for (SMW-5)

Saudi Telecom Company (STC) ,in cooperation with Alcatel company, has successfully completed marine survey operations for the fifth continental submarine cable (SMW-5), considered one of the latest and most modern system in the world Planned for connection at the Red Sea coastal city of Yanbu.
This phase of the marine survey is considered the most important phase of the project to determine the safe routes of the project system which will be operational in 2016.
The fifth continental submarine Cable is one of the latest projects for STC in its quest to develop and raise the capacity of its international networks.
This submarine cable will extends for 25 thousands kilometers. It will connect 17 countries beginning in Singapore through Saudi Arabia and ending in France and Italy.
Along with Saudi Telecom, the project consortium includes 19 other major international telecom companies. The list includes the three largest operators in China and the main operator in the following countries: Singaphor,Malasia, Indonesia,Thailand,Myanmar,Bangladish,Sri lanca,United Arab Emirates ,Yamen and Italy.
We should note that Saudi Telecom Company Owns and operates the largest international telecom network in the Middle east and north Africa.
In light of the unprecedented growth of broadband and internet services and applications in Saudi Arabia, STC has embarked on major investment projects in broad band services throughout the kingdom. These expansion projects include fiber optic networks. For business and residential sectors along with the forth mobile (LTE/4G) and advanced fourth generation (LTE/4G Advanced) networks.
