Service Description
STC International Capacity Solutions provides global connectivity and extended reach overcoming geographical boundaries. STC provides international capacities primarily over submarine cable systems as well as terrestrial and satellite facilities.

 

Terrestrial Capacity - Neighboring Countries
STC Wholesale terrestrial network is interconnected internationally through six border connections: Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE and Yemen. STC’s terrestrial network is designed with the newest optical networks for speed and reliability and currently spans more than 80,000 km nationwide. Transmission speeds up to multi-gigabit services include STM-1 (155Mbps), STM-4 (622Mbps), and STM-16 (2.5Gbps).

 

International Capacity


Submarine Cable Capacity - International
STC Wholesale submarine capacity covers four cable systems in the region, namely SMW-3,  SMW-4, SAS-1, and FLAG, with landing stations in Jeddah providing excellent diversity. Furthermore, STC is a major stakeholder in two upcoming terabit capacity systems, i.e., India Middle East Western Europe (IMEWE) system; and, Europe India Gateway (EIG) system..

 

SAS-1 is 333 Km repeater-less submarine cable system between Jeddah landing station and Port Sudan in Sudan, with 4-fiber pair and 32 transmission wavelengths. Termination equipments are fully redundant with an overall system outage of less than five minutes per year.

 

SMW-3 is the longest system in the world with a total length of 39,000 km. It includes 39 landing points in 33 countries. Landing points in the region are: Oman, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco, and UAE.


SMW-4 spans some 20,000 km across the Eastern and Western worlds. In its basic configuration, SMW4 connects 14 countries (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Italy and France) Algeria, Italy and France). The system is amongst the most economical cable system in the region built with latest state-of-the-art technology.


In addition, STC has ownership in other regional and international submarine cables (e.g. FlagEA, FA1, TAT14, APCN, and TGN)
